Cowboys must build fence and repair old fences.

Cowboys must make sure cattle have water available. If there is not a creek or pond nearby, often times a windmill is used to pump water from underground. Many times windmills need repairs.

Cowboys monitor the wildlife. Wildlife such as beavers, fish, ducks, turkeys, raccoons, coyotes, snakes, quail, prairie chicken, turtles, and bobcats all have their place on the ranch. We watch to see how many are around and what their habits are.

Cowboys spend time in their office like any other good businessman. They study and make decisions about selling their products.

The life of the cowboy or rancher does not hold the same type excitement of a John Wayne movie, however, most cowboys would not trade their lifestyle for any other. The excitement they get everyday from seeing a brand new fawn, a bobcat streak through the trees, and seeing their cattle wade through healthy grasslands and clean streams is an excitement like none other.
